No, the examination is not performed during pregnancy, and at any time. -
How is scintigraphy performed?
Before the procedure, you are injected with a special drug with radioisotopes, after which you should wait for some time for the substance to penetrate into the examined organ. Then you lie down on the table and take a comfortable position, after which the scan is performed. You will receive a transcript of the scintigraphy immediately after the procedure or the next day. -
How often can I do a scintigraphy?
The recommended frequency of the study is no more than once every three months, optimally – at intervals of one to two years. -
Is it possible to eat before scintigraphy?
It is strictly not recommended to take food on the day before the examination. If a scintigraphy of the myocardium of the heart is planned, then half an hour before the procedure it is necessary to eat a small piece of chocolate to empty the gallbladder. -
Is scintigraphy dangerous?
No, since the decay of isotopes occurs continuously, the study is absolutely safe. It is advisable to drink more fluids after the procedure in order to quickly remove the radiopharmaceutical from the body. -
How much is scintigraphy done?
The duration of the procedure depends on which organ is being examined: from 20 minutes to 3-3.5 hours.
